Welcome to October. 🎃

The leaves in my neck of the woods haven’t started to change much—just a hint of crimson or yellow on the tip-top of the trees. But I’ve been told that since it’s now officially both Fall and the Spooky season, it’s time to get out my Halloween decorations and start living the cozy life. 🍂

Books we’re reading

Son and I are still working on Where the Red Fern Grows, and Dude! Did we get to some chilling things. No spoilers, but the whispers you hear from people about how this book is, they are true. Still a great story, and though we took a slight break after one scene in particular, we’ve gone back to it. 🐕

Daughter and I are enjoying a change away from our last series, and instead are reading the American Girls series! She has my old copies of the Samantha books which were my favorite. And I found some of the Molly ones at the local used bookshop. Even though she can read these books easily on her own, we’re reading them together for the fun of it. Plus we have been having some great talks about historical things like women’s suffrage and WWII. 📚

Anyone else read American Girls? Did you have a favorite girl? Anyone still have their old books on a shelf somewhere?

Quick Garden Update!

Goodbye tomatoes, hello sugar snap peas. I removed the tomato plants that had finally stopped producing, and their cages, and planted the sugar snap pea seeds. Now we wait! I’ll post some pictures once there’s some Fall sprouts! I’ll also be doing some clean up in the herb garden to make way for things.
