Guess it’s Fall

It’s Fall. I’m sure you’ve noticed that. But where I live in Nor Cal, we’ve been playing with the idea of Fall instead of actually experiencing it (no matter how many PSLs Starbucks tries to sell us in August). It was over 100 degrees on October 1st here. So needless to say, it was tough to “Fall into” Fall for me. Even more so since I’d rather cling to Summer as long as I can. But there’s no denying it now.

Today is blustery, and the leaves are beginning to come down. My windchime is having a field day and I am loving the musical sounds.

Our house is now decorated with our Halloween things, fun and silly is our style. With younger kiddos that’s really the best for us. We have a couple of silly scarecrows on the hearth, tons of different pumpkins and Jack-o-lanterns🎃, a few vintage figurine candles of my grandmother’s, and you met Edgar my dapper Raven on the bookshelf.

There’s a goofy mix of Halloween songs on right now—Monster Mash, anyone? And Of course I have my Halloween socks.

Seasons of Art

In The Mark of the Artist, most of the story takes place in either Spring/Summer, and a bit of a mysterious winter-like time. Sebastian and his friend James sweat it out while working on the docks in a sweltering summer in the Port City. Anna and Sebastian’s love grows in the Springtime fields near Albright manor. Then later there’s a scene around a fire in the cold woods where our hero sees a spectacularly stary night 😉🖼️. But for some reason, the characters don’t experience the blustery, color changing leaves of fall in the story.

So if you’re like me and not ready to be cold, follow Sebastian on his journey—he keeps to warmer climes (and some interesting locations, too 🤫).

Wake me up when it’s Summer
